The first few weeks of the NFL can be tricky for the bettor as teams are coming off a pre-season that was more of an audition for players trying to own a spot on the roster rather than a bon-a-fide look into the true performance of a team. Teams that were active in the off season tend to present a challenge as well for the bettor who is trying to assess if the new acquisitions will have already developed a rapport with their new team in order to have an impact this early in the year. It becomes especially important to research every angle, published and non-publised reports, and trends that could point to a profitable wager. In this article I take a look at one avenue for assessment of this weeks games with Week #1 Historical Trends. Keep in mind that this is just one factor in picking winners today but it will give you the ability to pinpoint some possible winners.

Kansas City at New England

Kansas City is 3-14 ATS on the road versus AFC East opponents and 1-6 before a divisional home game while the Patriots are 6-2 ATS the L8 in this series. Recommendation: New England

Chicago at Indianapolis
